Veilleuse turns one spoken sentence into feed, sleep and nappy entries that you check before saving. You can also ask questions about the baby's day and get answers from your own entries. Here is how it works, step by step, and what happens to your words.
We make Veilleuse, a baby tracker for iPhone, available now on the App Store. Facts about Huckleberry, Baby Tracker (Nighp) and Robin come from their App Store listings or their own pages, checked in October 2026.
The short answer
Yes, you can track your baby by voice. In Veilleuse, on the Family plan, you say or type one sentence, such as "120 ml bottle and a wet nappy", and it becomes entries you check first, then you tap Save all. You can also ask "when was the last feed?" and the answer comes from your own entries. Huckleberry (on paid plans), Baby Tracker by Nighp and Robin also log by voice.
Why track the baby's feeds and nappies by voice
A feed and a nappy change often happen together. Your hands are full, the baby is half asleep, and the phone is on the arm of the chair. Typing two separate entries is the last thing you want.
Voice helps in that moment. You say what happened once, in your own words, and the app sorts it into the right entries. It is not the only way to add things in Veilleuse, and it is not always the fastest. But when several things happened at once, one sentence beats three forms.
How tracking your baby by voice works in Veilleuse
- Speak or type. Talk to Veilleuse, or type if the baby is asleep next to you and you would rather stay quiet.
- Say one sentence. For example: "She had 120 ml of expressed milk and a wet nappy." A sentence can be up to 500 characters.
- See the draft cards. Veilleuse turns your sentence into up to 8 entries. In the example, that is a bottle card and a nappy card.
- Check each card. Look at the type, the amount and the time. Fix anything that is wrong before it goes in.
- Tap Save all. The entries are saved, and you see "Saved. 2 entries. Go back to sleep."
With more than one baby, an entry can be saved for each baby. Each entry also keeps the name of who added it, so your partner can see it was you.
What you can say about feeds, sleep and nappies
Speak the way you would tell your partner. Some examples:
- "Left breast for 15 minutes, then a dirty nappy."
- "90 ml of formula at 2 and a wet nappy at 3."
- "She fell asleep at 1 and woke up at 4."
- "Pumped 80 ml from both sides."
Say the side for a breastfeed, the ml and the kind of milk for a bottle (formula, expressed or mixed), and wet, dirty, both or dry for a nappy. Say the times too, so you can catch up on the night in the morning. Every entry can be edited or deleted later.
Veilleuse does not track temperature, milestones or symptoms, so saying those will not create an entry.
Check the feed and nappy drafts before saving
Nothing is saved the moment you stop talking. You always see the draft cards first. This matters at night, when a misheard number could put 210 ml instead of 120 ml.
If a card is wrong, change it. If one should not be there, remove it. Then tap Save all. This check is the step that makes voice safe to use half asleep. You stay in charge of what goes into the baby's day.
Ask about the baby's feeds and sleep in a sentence
Voice also works for questions. You can ask things like:
- "When was the last feed?"
- "How many wet nappies today?"
- "How long did she sleep in the last 24 hours?"
- "How much did she drink this week?"
Veilleuse answers questions about the last one, a count, a total time, a total amount, or the latest growth measure. The period can be today, yesterday, the last 24 hours, this week, the last 7 days, this month, this year or ever. You can ask up to 3 questions in one sentence.
Here is the important part. The answer comes from your own entries. The AI only works out what you asked. The number is then computed from what you and your family saved. It is never guessed.
Veilleuse does not coach sleep. A question cannot compare days ("more than yesterday?"). For that, her usual day on Home, on the Family plan, shows how this week compares with last week. It does not give medical advice either. If a number worries you, ask your midwife, health visitor or paediatrician.
When voice helps and when the + is quicker
Be honest about which tool fits the moment. Most things in Veilleuse are added with the + on each Home card. Tap the + on the nappy card, pick wet, and you are done. For one simple entry, that is often quicker than speaking.
Voice shines when:
- two or three things happened together, like a feed and a nappy;
- you are catching up on the night in one go;
- your hands are busy and typing is awkward.
For hands-free moments with the phone locked, Siri is the other option. Our guide to tracking your baby with Siri lists the exact phrases.
What happens to your words
Here is what happens, in plain words.
Your speech is turned into text on your iPhone or by Apple's speech service. That text is sent to an AI service to work out the entries. Along with it go the babies' first names, which baby is shown, what timer is running, the language and your local time.
Veilleuse never saves your words. Only the entries you check and save are kept.
The family shares 30 AI requests a day. Voice and questions are part of the Family plan. Logging by hand, timers and Siri are free.
Other baby trackers that work by voice
Voice logging is not new, and Veilleuse is not the only app with it. Here is how others do it, from their listings in October 2026:
- Huckleberry offers AI logging by voice, text or photo on its paid plans (Plus at $68.99 a year on the US App Store, checked in October 2026). Siri works too.
- Baby Tracker by Nighp added Quick Log on iOS 26, which uses Apple Intelligence to let you describe activities in your own words.
- Robin is a newer voice and AI tracker. You can speak for up to 90 seconds to log several events and ask about your data. Voice is part of its paid Pro plan.
What sets Veilleuse apart is the whole flow. You say several things at once and check the drafts before saving. You ask questions answered from your own entries. Siri works with the phone locked, timers sit on the lock screen, and on the Family plan each carer has their own account.
How Veilleuse turns one sentence into the feed and the nappy
At 3 AM you finish a bottle and change a wet nappy. In Veilleuse you say "90 ml of formula and a wet nappy". Two draft cards appear: a bottle and a nappy. You glance at the amount, tap Save all, and see "Saved. 2 entries. Go back to sleep."
Your partner sees both entries on their own phone, on their own account. In the morning, Home shows how long since the last feed and which side is next. If you lost track overnight, ask "how many feeds today?" or "when was the last poo?" and the answer is counted from what you saved.
When one thing happened, tap the + on its card instead. When your hands are full, use Siri. Voice is there for the moments when several things happen together.
Veilleuse is available now on iPhone. Logging one baby by hand is free. Voice is part of the Family plan: $11.99 a month, with your first month at half price, or $79.99 a year for the whole family.

Say it in one sentence. Check the entries, then save.

Saved. Back to sleep.

Ask a question. The answer comes from your own entries.
Questions parents ask
Can I track my baby's feeds by voice?
Yes, on the Veilleuse Family plan. You say or type one sentence, such as "left breast for 10 minutes and a wet nappy". It becomes draft cards that you check, then you tap Save all. One sentence can hold up to 8 entries.
Does Veilleuse save my voice recordings?
No. Your speech is turned into text on your iPhone or by Apple's speech service. The text is sent to an AI service to work out the entries, and Veilleuse never saves your words. Only the entries you save are kept.
Can I type instead of speaking?
Yes. The same box takes typed text, up to 500 characters. Typing is handy when the baby has just fallen asleep next to you.
Are the answers to my questions made up by the AI?
No. The AI only works out what you asked. The answer is then computed from your own entries, never guessed. If nothing was saved for that period, there is nothing to count.
Is Veilleuse the only baby tracker with voice?
No. Huckleberry (paid plans), Baby Tracker by Nighp (Quick Log, iOS 26) and Robin also log by voice or text. Veilleuse adds draft cards you check, questions answered from your entries, Siri with the phone locked and an account for each carer.
